Vidjama Gmaes Work

They Just Do

Uninstalled Exoprimal After One Match

PvP can go to hell.

I’m not averse to PvP in video games, hell I’ve played more battle royale games than probably anything else over the last year. Perfectly fine with games that have PvP, even games that have absolutely no PvE whatsoever.

But Exoprimal is the fastest in recent history I’ve gone from enthusiastically downloading a game to deleting it.

Exoprimal suffers from Goldilocks syndrome, meaning the game swings heavily from start to finish and never ends up feeling just right. You play with two teams of people and each team is racing through phases of dinosaurs in order to be the first to beat all those phases. The phases themselves are pretty simple, I’ll even forgive my teammates for dying a lot during the T-Rex fight because I assume many are playing for the first time. Some might even be game journalists.

But once you get to the final phase, Exoprimal opens up PvP and starts allowing players to shoot at each other. This is where the game goes from being piss-easy to mind-numbingly annoying. Respawning endlessly only to die very quickly moments later as one team quickly dominates the field. You’ll get one shot by enemy players, realize your team are a bunch of blundering morons, and the final phase stretches on way too long. At least it did in my match, maybe the enemy team was screwing with us.

I want a purely PvE mode for Exoprimal. And I’m not just talking about the planned mode that is still a PvE race with no PvP round at the end. I mean purely PvE.

Why? Well my life flashed before my eyes after deleting the game and I realized the kind of disappointment I’d be looking forward to playing the game further or getting it at launch on Game Pass. All the infuriating losses because some jagoff went AFK or disconnected during the game, ensuring our team had no chance of keeping up. The cheaters that would no doubt take over since this is a Capcom game. The sweaty nerds making it impossible to win unless you strictly follow the meta speedrun play. And more.

There is a mode of sorts that is coming out, but it looks pretty disappointing. It’s also not available in beta.

Oh well, at least it’s free on Game Pass.
