We’ve got to get Spongebob back!
I don’t know if I’d be so quick to jump on Powerwash Simulator’s Spongebob DLC if I didn’t already have twenty dollhairs sitting in my Steam account. It’s not out of any moral quandary, I’m just a cheap bastard. Eight dollars is more than fair for a handful of levels given a fair amount of that money is going to go toward licensing the stuff for the thing. We got spoiled with the free packs of Final Fantasy VII and Tomb Raider which makes sense since Square Enix is publishing the game and thus can just bankroll that themselves.
The Spongebob DLC gives you six levels including the main three’s houses, the Krusty Krab/Chum Bucket, the Mermalair, and a few vehicles to clean. The levels themselves are chock full of references to jokes from the show and the whole thing is encased in a mystery of who smeared crap all over people’s houses and cars in Bikini Bottom. It was me, I did it.

I suppose the worst thing you can say about the DLC is that the power washer takes up a massive amount of screen space. Other than that the dialogue in your texts doesn’t seem to fit the characters. It’s been a good seventeen years since I’ve seen a new episode of Spongebob Squarepants, so a few of the jokes did go over my head. Maybe the characters do talk like this now.
There aren’t any levels that stand out as a nightmare to get through, although cleaning the computer in the Mermalair was a pain. The dialogue isn’t as painful as some of the Tomb Raider texts. Also cleaning the gunk off the invisible boatmobile, which gradually gets more invisible as you clean, was fun. Granted it was a pain at the end.

Powerwash Simulator is a game you probably fall into one of two camps on; Either you enjoy its charm or you consider it a waste of time and money (or checked it out on Game Pass because it didn’t cost any extra), and Spongebob DLC is more of that, however you view it. I find the game to be charming, it’s how I spent 69.7 hours in it so far. Nice.
