I’ll be honest with you folks, I don’t pay much attention to the FNAF community or its drama. I’ve actually been following a rather interesting turf war in my basement between what might be two or even three families of house spiders. They take territory, lose territory, and honestly it’s so much more interesting and real than the stuff that goes on on social media. I’m team bar spiders for you team stacked-chair stans out there.
But I know enough about Five Nights at Freddy’s to know that Scott Cawthon has his fan initiative where people get to make games and it’s all part of a shared publishing universe or something. FNAF+ is one of those games, a reimagining of the original because these older games could always do with being a little spoopier.
FNAF+ probably isn’t coming out, or at least probably isn’t coming out on Steam because the listing has been removed as of not too long ago. Hearing about the controversy makes me want to go back to the spider turf wars because internet drama makes Real Housewives look elegant and dignified. All of this goes back to FNAF+ creator Phil Morg playing the Ruin DLC of FNAF: Security Breach and not liking it. And people got angy.
In response one Twitter user responded “can we tweet this after FNaF+ comes out, it’s only fair” and apparently this incited a bunch of terminally online nitwits to start spamming them with death threats and photos/videos of gore. Because unattended behavioral disorders is rampant in virtually any big online community these days. There’s been a lot of back and forth about Phil’s involvement in the harassment and his general quality as a person overall, and I recommend not digging any deeper lest you lose even more brain cells.
So anyway Phisnom (Phil) has been removed from the project and fired from the fanverse initiative, and now the game has been delisted from Steam. What happens next? I’m going to consume this big pork butt when it’s done slow cooking. As for the FNAF+ side, I couldn’t care less.
Yes this is all because I’m hungry.
