And makes it fun.
I suppose it’s safe to say that I am a fan of the game Cultic. Chapter 1 released back in October and I’ve been trying to find some time to go back and play it again on higher difficulties and maybe farm some more achievements. But it is, as I said, a fantastic game.
With Chapter 2 sporting a release date of who the hell knows, developer Jason Smith announced during yesterday’s Realms Deep conference that the game was getting an interlude. Cultic: Interlude if you will. Something to bridge the gap between chapters and continue the story and satiate people’s thirst. For now.

And they did a really good job. Set after the events of Cultic: Chapter One, Interlude puts you in the role of a police officer whose station comes under attack by cultists. How do you deal with cultists? You grab your revolver and lay down some skull bursting justice. Unfortunately it seems like the call is coming from inside the house, as you quickly realize that members of your own force have been coopted by the very same cult.
Let’s talk guns. You get two new guns in Interlude; a revolver and a shotgun. The revolver is a can of murder, packing a whollop and blowing off the heads of any cultists (or sometimes two or three at once) who manage to get in its way. The shotgun isn’t as powerful as I would have liked but if it appears in Chapter 2 can definitely be upgraded to be more useful. You can find enough upgrade material for maybe one upgrade to a weapon in Interlude.

The final boss is the only disappointing part of this bit, given you can easily convince it to just kill itself by letting it walk into its own pool of fire. Otherwise the game is still fantastic from the shooting to the ambiance to the music and everything in between.
Interlude will take you less than a half hour to complete, but it is a free update. Check it out.
