Drive decimately.
I got my hands on the Decimate Drive demo and after beating it in about 20 minutes I had to take a nap. This demo is probably the most frightening and emotionally exhausting I have played in quite a while. In Decimate Drive you play as a guy in a nightmare scenario; you’re running through a town desperately trying to answer payphones for some reason, and maniac killer cars are trying to murder you.
I like that the developer added the ability to glance to the side while running, it really adds to the tension. But these cars never let up, and I don’t think I’ll ever be able to listen to the daisy song quite the same after this game. The game is just crackhead manic energy from the moment the first car starts chasing you pretty much until the last sequence. You have to make use of the environment to get to the next phone, and if you get hit twice it’s game over. You can extend your life in the difficulty options.
It’s the fact that the game slams you with both visual and audio cues that make this game as tense as it is. You know, that and the fact that you’re endlessly dodging multiple moving vehicles. Every time I got hit by a car it made me jump in my seat. The demo at least never felt unfair to me and I did figure out a couple of ways of trapping cars. I can’t wait for the full game to come out.
