Payday 3 Dumps 94% Of Its Steam Base

Stop putting out crap.

Payday 3 boldly dared to ask the question; why bother launching a game in a good state when we can burn the goodwill of our customers and then fix it once most of them have left? A question a ton of games are also asking these days.

It’s been a month since Payday 3 released and the game is going great. It has a 39% mostly negative rating on Steam and 94% of the peak concurrent player count has already given up on it despite being a $40 release. The mobile game was shitcanned earlier this month, Payday 3 itself hasn’t had an update since launch, and Payday 2 is currently beating it out in concurrent Steam count by a general margin of about 10:1.

I’ve been a big advocate for a long time about people not pre-ordering games because in many cases you’re acting as a glorified beta tester paying a premium for a broken-ass title in return for some useless tchotchkes you won’t care about by the time the game is fixed and people are spending 50% or less for a better experience. And in Payday 3’s case you don’t even get the tchotchkes. Payday 3’s pre-order items have been broken since they were pre-orderable and there’s no end in sight to that problem.

Payday 3 won multiple awards at Gamescom 2023, which should tell you what a joke Gamescom is. At least Starbreeze won’t do anything as embarrasing as the H3H3 DLC for Payday 2. Please. I hope.
