It’s getting there.
I played the Rollerdome trial on PlayStation a long while back and made a video about it. Here it is.
But the full game is now on Game Pass and I’m certainly not passing up that opportunity to keep playing. Which is exactly what I did. And I can tell that the game is beating its players senseless because less than 5% of gamers have completed the first set of four levels going by achievement stats. This game is hard, and I’m not just talking about spelling the title correctly.
Rollerdrome is a skateboarding combat game where you do tricks to replenish your ammo and use those guns to shoot people. You have to shoot all the people before the game will let you proceed to the next arena where you’ll shoot more people, but also there are challenges like shooting people in a certain way or collecting things or raising your score.
Rest assured this game will beat your ass, and I understand why 95% of the users who play it never got very far. But it’s that perfect kind of hard where the game never feels unfair even if it’s not always evident what you did wrong. The game requires you to control the map to a degree that some will quickly find overwhelming, especially once you get multiple snipers, guys with rocket launchers, and guys with those flame guns that set parts of the map on fire.
I’ve found it easier so far to simply focus on the challenges separately.
But if you have Game Pass, Rollerdrome is fun as hell and challenging to boot. I’ll be posting more about this game as I get further into it.
