Vidjama Gmaes Work

They Just Do

What Gamers Want: 12/3 Edition

What gamers need.

Gamers love games. They might not like playing them, but they like the idea of buying them and talking about which games they’re going to buy next. So in that interest, let’s talk about the games gamers are gaming to game. Games. Here are the top 5 most wanted games on Steam coming out this week.

#1: The Day Before (257,000 followers)

The #2 most followed game on Steam is finally coming out. The Day Before has gone through a ton of drama over the last year with developer FNTASTIC delaying the game repeatedly under trademark disputes and allegations that the game is “fake.” Well as of December 7 they’ll finally be able to prove those allegations wrong. Or give critics a justified pat on the back if the game comes out in a bad state.

A zombie survival game, The Day Before tasks players with surviving in a post-pandemic world where your biggest threats are probably other players. This will be the early access launch of the game, at which point players will dogpile the servers and then become angry that the servers aren’t functioning perfectly on day one. Early access expected to last six to eight months.

#2: Warhammer 40K: Rogue Trader (47,000 followers)

Warhammer has really been hitting it out of the park with games lately. Rogue Trade is an isometric turn-based strategy game or X-COM in the forty first century as the kids are calling it. A big selling point with the campaign is that your choices matter. How much will your choices impact the world? I’m sure the early adopters will be happy to let us know within the first week once they power through it.

Developed by Owlcat Games, the folks behind Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous – Enhanced Edition which has an 83% mostly positive rating among nearly 24,000 Steam reviews.

#3: Three Kingdoms Zhao Yun (11,000 followers)

Now Vidjama Gmaes has a majority presence in China, so I assume all of you are rooting for this next game; Three Kingdoms Zhao Yun. If you can’t speak Chinese, either simplified or traditional, this game will be of no use for you. It literally won’t be available in English or anything else. In development by everyone’s favorite dev; ZUIJIANGYUE Game, this one comes out on December 7 to topple The Day Before in sales. The goal is to be in early access for three to four months, according to the devs.

An APRG set in the Three Kingdoms? Sign me up. I just need to sign up for Duolingo first.

#4: Kingpin Reloaded (4,800 followers)

I feel like this one almost needs no introduction, but for those who need it; Kingpin: Life of Crime is a 1999 first person shooter. The rerelease of Kingpin brings the 24 year old game to new systems and promises updated resolutions, crisper graphics, controller support, and a new quest/dialogue system. You can even swap between the classic and enhanced mode if you’re really jonesing for that 1999 experience.

Hopefully there’s a demo. Kingpin Reloaded comes out December 5.

#5: A Date With Death (3,400 followers)

A romance chat simulator where you date the Grim Reaper. In development by Two and a Half Studios, which according to my notes is actually just one studio. Known for their visual novels featuring lots of gay romance, A Date With The Grim Reaper should be self-explanatory. It’s a spiritual sequel to 1983’s Math Blaster.

Nah I’m just kidding. You date the Grim Reaper. There’s a demo and everything. The full game releases December 7.
