We know that Peter Molyneux is a pathological liar, and that’s probably a big reason why I don’t trust a single thing this company says. If you don’t remember Godus, and you probably don’t, this title was a scam released by 22Cans way back in 2013. It’s a scam because 22Cans released it in early access in 2013 and then strung players along for three years before ultimately abandoning the game in 2016.

In fact Peter, who can’t stop lying every time he opens his mouth, lied again in 2021 when he claimed they had a team working on Godus with new features coming out. Godus hasn’t had developers working on it since 2015.

After years of silence, the game finally got an update today in the form of a news post, and you know what? I don’t believe it. It’s about something that shouldn’t shock anyone, but the game is being pulled from sale and 22Cans are blaming Amazon Web Services. And I don’t believe, given Peter Molyneux’s pension for shamelessly lying through his teeth, that this is true.

22cans would like to share important news regarding our games, Godus and Godus Wars. Regrettably, due to an upcoming technical change to Amazon Web Services, affecting our ability to serve necessary game files to new users, these titles are to be withdrawn from the Steam store. Please be assured that existing players can continue to enjoy these games without interruption.

Firstly I’ll admit that as a non-developer, this statement means next to nothing to me. As a games writer, the idea of companies pulling titles from sale due to technical issues is common. Not even worth second guessing for any company but 22Cans. There’s literally no reason to doubt it. But with 22Cans and Peter Molyneux I ask myself “would he lie about something like this?” And the answer is yes! Yes he would! I’d like to note Godus hasn’t been on sale since 2016 anyway.

And it’s depressing that it’s so conceivable that Peter Molyneux would lie about something as simple as why they’re taking games off of Steam. Because he’s a pathological liar who hasn’t done much lying lately and is probably just looking to mislead the public for poops and giggles.
