Yeah I did it.
It’s time to write about Fortnite again because I’m creatively bankrupt.
As of this week I have officially hit level 100 in the Fortnite battle pass while the amount of time I spend playing Fortnite has plummeted through the floor. According to my calendar I should be at about level 76 to keep the flow going to hit level 200 by the time the season ends. I think I’m doing pretty well in that regard without even considering buying levels. Thanks Tim Sweeney.

Lego Fortnite has been given a massive quality of life boost these last few weeks what with Epic increasing the durability of tools by 30% and their rare/epic versions by 60%. Finally I can walk more than ten feet from my base without my pickaxe immediately breaking like it was manufactured in China. They also decreased how often spiders appear under rocks which is also great because I feel like half my time spent picking rocks was just spent killing the spiders that would pop up.
This week’s update introduced the Flowberry Fizz which we saw in the chapter trailer, it’s a big bottle of soda that your character pops open and bukkakes all over themselves, boosting your shield but not your health by up to 100. It’s an area of effect item that can heal yourself, allies, and even opponents if they get in range. Unlike the shield potions, it’s also not a one-time use thing. If you don’t use all 100 shield in one go it stays in your inventory.
As far as Fortnite Rocket Racers go, I’m done with that for the season now that I have the gold rank reward and got pretty much everything out of it that I can. It’s not that I have a problem with Rocket Racers, it’s just that the game mode sucks. Mostly because once you hit gold rank the level of sweat on the player base goes through the roof, and while I thought the sweatiness in team rumble was pathetic, you haven’t seen dweebs sweat over a casual game until you’ve hit gold rank 2 in Rocket Racers. Also the game mode sucks and anyone spending $30+ on car skins for this is a moron.

Let’s chat for a fat second about the story in Chapter 5, because it makes me laugh. As you know, Epic springboarded us into the multiverse as a way of pushing Fortnite into the next phase of becoming Tim Sweeney’s idea of a metaverse. Sure, why not. This season the story is all about Jones and The Underground going up against The Society, a group of wealthy corrupt criminals who own most of the island. Ironic in a game that spent its formative years (legally) stealing intellectual property. And this is where Fortnite’s product placement becomes hilarious because the group consists of your typical gangster-esque criminals. And then Peter Griffin is inexplicably there.
The Society has Peely held captive, and that’s pretty much the season story as we know it. What a time to be alive when in a few weeks we’ll be able to shoot Peter Griffin in the face as Solid Snake. Given we’ve essentially reset the entire universe and replayed the Big Bang, I’m kinda hoping Epic ditch the whole rotating cast of characters trying to steal the Zero Point. Does the Zero Point even exist anymore? Has anyone heard from the Zero Point this season?
