Fortnite Chapter 5 season 1 is rolling into week 8 so I figured what better time than to post an update piece. A better time would be never, I know.

I’m fairly certain at this point Lego Fortnite was dumped and is something of an afterthought. Is it because Epic hasn’t dropped a patch in over a month? Kinda. It’s more because the mode is still incredibly broken, including where transporting between dungeons and the overworld will not only break your connection but also break your ability to matchmake for a few minutes (see header).

And by no means is the mode dead, with well over 100,000 people concurrently playing it at any given moment. Nor am I going to imply that I’ve gotten far in the game to say that they need to add more content. But the updates from a month ago that improved durability, increased stacking numbers, and made food better was a great start. They just need to tackle the big bucket of bugs that are still in the game before moving on to develop more content.

But the art department sure is busy making new skins for this mode. I bet Epic is making gangbusters on this.

On the Fortnite side the last few weeks has been pretty dead in terms of content. I’m thinking the content team shot their wad on adding three new game modes at the exact same time, which is why Season 1 has been pretty light on updates. There’s also the improved animations, weapon mods, wall climbing, train mechanics. Yeah, I completely understand why the Fortnite team wasn’t able to preload the usual mid-season updates.

2024 has seen three updates adding in the Enforcer AR, the FlowBerry Fizz, and unvaulting the Lock On Pistol and Crash Pad Jr. Outside of that the map hasn’t seen any changes since the removal of Winterburg on January 2. I guess there’s not a whole lot you can do to forward a story when the season plot is “Peely has been kidnapped.” Next week sees the launch of Solid Snake’s skin and quests, so who knows if they’ll update part of the map. Maybe we’ll have to find Solid Snake’s ass because Epic lost it.
