Chapter 5, Season 3.
Yeah yeah, I know, Fortnite’s new season hasn’t even been out for 24 hours yet. But I wanted to do a quick Diaries From because I’m already really happy with how Epic has changed the game this season.
First off let’s talk about the new vehicle system; Epic has added in a fair few vehicle mods and they make driving much better. I’m talking about bulletproof tires, and that’s pretty much it. Sure there are turrets for the top of your car that have better use in squad matches, but there’s bulletproof tires. What more can you ask for other than not having to worry about every prick shooting out your tires?
Everything around vehicles has been enhanced, including gas and repairs. All you have to do is roll up to the gas station and sit on the pad and wait a few seconds. Voila, your car is good as new and fully fueled. The repair torch hasn’t been in the game since Chapter 3 Season 4 back at the end of 2022, meaning there hasn’t been a way to repair vehicles in a good year and a half.

Epic have completely ditched Match Quests and God bless them for it. I hated match quests, not only because you could only choose one but because they tended to really really suck. If you got a bad set of three choices you were usually better off just leaving and joining a new match. It felt like Epic artificially inflating player time because you were forced to play three matches. Obviously feedback got the better of them.
Dailies are back, and you get three at any given time and can complete all three in one match if you like. Daily experience is back to how it was before as well, a flat 15k bonus per quest completed. It’s great. Match quests always had that feeling of the last quest being mostly useless, given it only offered 5k exp. Accolades also seem to be more useful this season, giving 1k experience every time you complete one. I don’t remember the exp reward being this big in prior seasons.

You know there’s a lot to pour through when even the Fortnite Wiki still doesn’t have the new stuff itemized. Nuka Cola is a new healing item that gives a bit of health and shield, although I do love the little bit where your character pockets the cap. There’s another battle pass, now for Lego Fortnite, which means Fortnite now has a base of three battle passes running side-by-side and if Fortnite proper gets a mini-pass that’ll be four.
So many battle passes. The best you can say for this is that if you don’t play Lego Fortnite, there’s no FOMO for this pack. You’re not missing anything you’d want. Magneto hits Fortnite in over a month, with mission quests coming in a few weeks. We’ll see how things go.
Already level 9 on day one.
