I played a meme game demo on Steam and I’m not sure if I’m more surprised or disappointed that it was terrible. Protocol:null came out today in demo form and I have to assume at least one of the developers has been banned from Battlefield or from one of the Activision games. Why? Just a hunch from the game itself.

The premise of Protocol:null, at least the level in the demo, has you escorting a car strapped with a nuke through EAcity to bomb the offices of DICE. Yeah they kinda ran out of energy to fake company names after EAcity and the genius name that is Actavision Corps. I wasn’t able to actually get the bomb to the office and protect it long enough to detonate because the game is a steaming pile of crap.

Controls in the demo are barely functional, with mouse sensitivity going from 0 to 500 to 0 again randomly and with no prompt from the user. Shooting has almost no sound to it, and everything about the game is jank as hell. You might get the impression this isn’t a real game from not a serious developer, being sold on a gimmick. I’d actually be more impressed if the developer made this game to protest getting banned from Call of Duty.

Check out the demo on Steam, it’ll take you more time to install it than it will to play it and realize it’s not fun.
