Vigor Draws Venom, Wipes Player Progress And Purchases

Bohemia Interactive’s latest release on PC.

Vigor is the latest extraction game by Bohemia Interactive, and it recently launched on Steam to not so great reviews. And by not so great I mean a 36% “mostly negative” review score out of 371 reviews. The transition from paid early access to free to play has launched the game to its highest concurrent Steam count of 2,167 where it sits as I’m writing this.

Incidentally Vigor has been out on consoles for the last five years or so, coming to PC just recently in early access. The game is swinging fresh out of the gate with $659.78 in DLC packs and a 36% positive rating. Players in the reviews are mostly complaining over Bohemia’s decision to wipe progress made during early access, which the company claims was necessary due to undisclosed technical reasons. There’s also ongoing issues with connection problems, crashes, the obvious of hackers in the free to play shooter game, and various other gripes among the player base.

I actually covered Vigor back in 2021 over on MMO Fallout as an example of developers improving the battle pass model. Vigor introduced a system where expired battle passes would rotate back into the game allowing people who missed them the first time to buy them and complete them, and players who bought them and didn’t finish them another chance to complete them which is a rarity in the gaming space.

Sadly Bohemia in the time since has apparently canned the legacy seasons, throwing players a pittance in compensation for the passes they bought. There’s supposed to be something coming to replace that, but it’s hard to tell when that will be. We’ll have to see how well the game fares on PC as it seems to have done relatively decently on consoles in the last five years or so.
