Diaries From Spider-Man: The Heist DLC

Tom Hardy.

The Heist is the first episode in the “City That Never Sleeps” content and I know what you’re wondering; how much inane side stuff is there to do. The good news is, not much. This DLC centers around the cat-burglar themed thief with a heart of gold who likes to tease the hero but also sometimes teams up with him, Selena Kyle…I mean Felicia Hardy. Black Cat is back to her old tricks of stealing stuff, but this time around she isn’t stealing paintings. Nah, she’s stealing USB drives.

Everything carries over from the main game but as far as activities go you only have to worry about five of the districts actually having new content. That means 25 instances of Maggia crimes to deal with and those aren’t half bad. The days of the criminals having access to super weapons are done with and most of the crime fights are done in under 20 seconds.

There are 9 paintings to find that take next to no time, and one side mission that is literally a cutscene once you finish the paintings.

There is a new chaingun heavy weapons guy to fight, he’s pretty cool. The bigger enemies come back during the Screwball challenges, and I’d like to make a side note that I despise the challenges in this game. Both base and expansion. The challenges themselves aren’t terrible, but the high bar even on the easiest mode for getting the top score is bordering on contempt for the player.

I’m pretty confident it’s artificially high just to get people to play new game+ to fully unlock the suits/powers.

The Heist has some bits of plot that I enjoyed, like the Maggia family believing that Spidey is working for Hammerhead simply because he’s been seen with Felicia and offering to pay him extra to switch sides. Felicia reveals that she has a kid and Peter assumes it might be his on account of those times he stuffed her crust while they were briefly dating. MJ offers her chocolate to combine with Spidey’s peanut butter, the least subtle way anyone in the MCU has suggested doing butt stuff. Miles occasionally calls to ask for Spiderman lessons.

You know there’s no way in hell that Felicia died. Rule #1: If there’s no body, there’s no death.
