Monster Mop Up: Oven Baked Monster Turds

Crispy and buttery.

There comes a point in many demos where I say “that’s enough of that for now,” and that point in Monster Mop Up came when a big monster turd exploded into a ton of little monster turds and I realized that I would have to pick up each and every one of them and trudge them over to the open fireplace. Where I would cook those turds until they disappeared.

Yeah, that’s a thing. You could also flush the turds down the toilet like a weirdo.

I do not have fond memories of Viscera Cleanup Detail, and a lot of that comes down to how buggy and broken the game was. I know a lot of people enjoy the jank but it became a lot less fun and a lot more frustrating every time I couldn’t find the stranded pieces of gore or mess that seemed to go out of bounds or where you couldn’t get to it. I’m pretty sure Runestorm hasn’t really existed as a developer in well over 6 years.

Monster Mop Up is a fun demo, and it’s basically modern day Viscera Cleanup but better built. You have the bucket of water, the cleanup hands, but upgrades are available to make things easier. There are monsters in the levels that projectile shit whenever you catch them until you shove them in a magical wardrobe. You can also upgrade your gloves so they shit less.

Ultimately the point of the game is to clean up all the poop, clean up all the slime, and rescue the little monsters. You want to stick around to do everything and get an S rank because that gets you the most money, and you use that money to buy upgrades and stuff for your house to make the monsters happy. And you clean up the turds by baking them in an open fire.

I can’t imagine how bad that game world must smell. Check out the Monster Mop Up demo on Steam. It’s published by Yogscast.
