Glizzys.
Today’s cheap game is Game Time Glizzys, a game about what else but wieners and also French fries.
The premise of Game Time Glizzys is pretty simple; you play as a dude running a hotdog stand at a hockey rink. The campaign mode gives you a certain number of days to raise $1,000 in sales to pay off your debt or you hit a game over. If you pay off your debt, the game is also over but you won. Don’t worry, there’s a sandbox mode.
Each day you serve hotdogs and fries, with the opportunity to unlock one new object each day. You’ll get access to chili, cheese and veggies. A few curveballs get thrown in like the power going out, a hockey puck smashing one of your machines and requiring a repair, or getting sabotaged by your rival stands. You can use the tablet to pay to sabotage your rivals but I never found I had the time and it didn’t seem to make a big difference.
Game Time Glizzys is a very simple concept and a pretty easy game, at least as far as the campaign is concerned. I didn’t upgrade anything on my first playthrough and I still had enough money with two days left over to pay off the debt. The sandbox mode is where you can really amp up the difficulty with harsh limits, big goals, and long or short days.
If you’re a fan of more difficult or in-depth games like Fast Food Simulator, this one is going to be very easy by comparison. All of your ingredients are infinite except the hotdogs, buns, and fries so you really only have three things to worry about stocking. You don’t order anything, it’s just available in the back in endless amounts. There’s no real money management because it costs nothing to grab more ingredients so you never have to worry about wasting money or having too much left at the end of the shift.
But it is fun, albeit heavily on the casual side of an already casual genre. There’s no real story to speak of with the campaign. The campaign might take a good half hour or so but the sandbox mode offers some good fun. I like the level of customization. It is also about four bucks so I can’t complain about the couple hours of fun I got out of this.
