Players now two characters deep into event.
Fortnite is currently in the middle of a community event that I highly suspect has been engineered to finish on or just before September 16. Why September 16? Because that’s when the Dino Megazord skin and the associated quest line is scheduled to be added into the game.
Players have been tasked with completing community sized goals to summon the five Power Rangers, after which the Megazord will appear in-game. The first task had players using precision air strikes to summon the blue ranger. Next the game asked players to heal or gain shields to summon the yellow ranger. Now the game is asking players to collect boons to summon the black ranger.
The Megazord also means another big boss event for Fortnite because that’s basically a seasonal event now. Once the Megazord gets fully added into the game on September 18, matches will presumably feature a portal players enter and control the Megazord. Epic started these events with Godzilla and has since let players pilot Star Destroyers and become Superman. The balancing is up for debate but the boss events are pretty localized, early on in the match, and easy to avoid if you don’t want to get stomped by the overpowered player. They also tend to end pretty quickly, so even if you do get your hands on the big powerup it’s designed to expire well before the game gets down to its final 20 players.
