I’m not sure what to tell you folks.

NBA 2K24 is out and for yet another year the folks at Visual Concepts and 2K have netted themselves a whole bag of morons.

I suppose I can start this article out with a story. Back in yonder olden days of the mid twenty tens, I used to work at Gamestop. And there was no person I hated more than the professional morons who bought sports games and Call of Duty titles. And not everyone who bought them of course, but the people who bought them and traded them in within a week because “another year and the game still sucks.” And every year without exception that same person would be back to pre-order the $120 mega edition as soon as it became available.

NBA 2K24 is out and has a 14% “overwhelmingly negative” reaction with a big share from morons. How do I know they are morons? Well a cursory glance at the reviews will show you a lot of common themes; NBA has been going downhill for a while, the series sucks, the developer sucks, the game hasn’t been good in years, I’ve hated this every time I buy it, it’s the same as last year. In short, a lot of reviews from people who have been not just buying the game for years but hating the game for years.

And yet here they are, spending $60 to $150 USD to buy a game day one from a developer they don’t like in a series they haven’t enjoyed in 5+ years at the most expensive the game will ever be. Because they are morons. Dumber than a second coat of paint, George Carlin would say.

On a side note, I should point out that I’m not calling everyone who bought NBA 2K24 morons. I question your judgement for buying any game day one, but hey; if you enjoy it you do you. It ain’t hurtin nobody. Alternately if this is your first year buying the game and you didn’t know what to expect, you have every right to be angry about it and leave a negative review. This isn’t a shaming site, unless you’re into that you dirty dirty weasel.

However I am going to use the power of the internet to continue bullying you sad dweebs who buy the game every year on day one despite hating it every single time. The kind of people who thought “well this is going to suck again” while clicking the pre-order button. The ones who scream about 2K being a greedy garbage corporation yet still show up every year to spend cash on this disaster.

Are the criticisms of NBA 2K24 wrong? Probably not. They’re likely highly accurate. But that’s not the point. The point is that the people leaving those reviews who have bought the game year after year after year, hating it every single time, have nobody to blame for wasting their money but themselves.
