Gamers are upset, and the villain of the day has been declared to be none other than darling of democracy lovers everywhere, Helldivers 2. Helldivers 2 has been undoubtedly extremely popular with six digits of players liberating planets in Steam alone. But if today is any indication, some of them will be liberating themselves. Of playing Helldivers 2.

The source of gamer rage comes from the recent announcement that players will be required to link their PSN accounts and if they don’t have one, to acquire a PSN account. The link was always in the works, however technical difficulties led to the function being temporarily scrapped. But new players after May 6 will be required to link their PSN account to play, and current players will be required after June 4.

The only problem is that PSN isn’t available in all countries, but also some gamers just don’t want to do it. The end result has been over 30,000 negative reviews posted today on the game’s Steam page. It will have to be seen what happens to the Steam user count once the full account restriction goes into effect. For now all we can do is wait for the inevitable damage control.
